Recovery Scholarships

Collegiate Recovery and Intervention Services (CRIS) is supported by a variety of scholarships and endowments. Below you will find scholarship descriptions as well as links and steps for giving.

Martin J. Stovall Promises Scholarship

The Martin J. Stovall Promises Scholarship (The Promises Scholarship) was established Fall 2018 in honor of Martin J. Stovall, a University of Alabama (UA) student who succumbed to the disease of addiction in 2016. The Promises scholarship was initiated by a UA Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) student to honor the life of his friend. The goal of The Promises Scholarship is to ease the financial barrier for re-entry to college and afford a student in early recovery the opportunity to attend UA, maintain their sobriety through participation in the UA Collegiate Recovery Community and obtain a degree. Preference should be given to those who need financial support in order to attend UA, those that show a strong desire to receive an education, and those that have established goals that emphasize recovery, community and academics.
