The Collegiate Recovery Community (CRC) at The University of Alabama is first and foremost a community of students pursuing recovery from alcohol, drug use, eating disorders or other addictive behaviors. Our goal is to provide a welcoming, fun, substance-free environment where students in recovery can find connection, encouragement, and a sense of belonging.
A Space to Call Home
CRC members receive 24-hour access to our recovery space and services throughout their time as enrolled students at UA. Many students describe the CRC as their “home away from home.” Our dedicated recovery space includes:
- A lounge space with video games and streaming services
- A snack pantry
- A private computer lab
- A group study and project room
- A meditation and reflection room
- Collegiate Recovery programming that students can access at their own pace
Being Part of the CRC

Students who have an active interest in pursuing recovery can spend time in the community and with staff to help them explore recovery and develop the relationships and skills they need to in order to continue to pursue long-term recovery. If you are interested in exploring recovery, we are interested in you! There is no cost to students for participating in the Collegiate Recovery Community, and committed members are eligible for scholarships. Participation in the community is voluntary and confidential.
